Josh Harris was a SEAL stationed in our area; he died in Afghanistan last year. He also had a BFA in Fine Art, and was working towards his Master's in Architecture-a many faceted being. I had the honor and opportunity to talk to his friends and family in the course of working on this portrait- it is important to me to try to understand the spirit and character of a subject, and to incorporate that in my painting. I hope I managed to show that spirit true
