Last of the forsythia

There's so much going on in the garden! I don't know who's queen- the Kouza dogwood, or the peony with the red eye in the front bed, or the ruffly lavender azalea.  Maybe the yellow rose whose name I've forgotten?  But up in the studio, it's the Forsythia's day.

forsythia in May

I decided a couple of things today when photographing "Forsythia"- for starters, I'm going to have to restretch the canvas and reduce the vertical height.  I'm not fond of this kind of procedure, and fear for the integity of the paint films, but it's just has to be done.  I also need to go in and make the transitions more progressive- but first I need to run over to the Chrysler Museum and see the painting, "The Young Roman", which is essentially all about yellow.  I think I'll learn a lot from studying it again.
