the perfect model/donettes

Donettes are the perfect model- no drift, no slumping, no deterioration!  They look 'zactly the same today as the day I started, tho' I must say (having tapped them to loose a little powdered sugar) that they are hard as rocks. I painted these over the course of three days, waiting till eleven in the morning for the light to hit them just so.
Thank-you Kyna, for letting me borrow the plate.

tiny treasures

Two pieces "ThumP" and "Back Bay" have been accepted into the Tiny Treasures" miniature show opening Thursday the 18th, at the Hermitage in Norfolk.  Below find the cover of "thumP"  (the inside is the outside of a fine melon).   Both of the pieces are oil paint on a copper ground.  ThumP is covered with beaded and embroidered silk and Back Bay is sleeved in an embroidered and beaded blue velvet.  Both sit on walnut bases.
I love a pocket painting!

This is the exterior of the pocket portfolio wherein the painting "Back Bay" is mounted.  (That piece is currently listed in the Tender Paint section of "Works")  The entirety is off to the Hermitage Foundation Museum this morning.

maybe a storm?

probably not, but we did receive a wee little rain today.  What I'd really like to see on the horizon is a cloud like this one, snapped coming over the James River last year...
Look on the bright side- it could be an apple.

Et tu, Fuji?

I looked at all of those apples staring back at me over the last few days- such a sweet, juicy lot.  Cheerful and wholesome. Then I decided it was time for them to work a little harder...
Time for me to work a little harder as well.

may your days be bright/season's greetings

Be that as it may, I'd rather have some overcast, grey, gully washing days right around now.  Not the best for work, but it would do my spirit a world of good; methinks this drought has left dust there, too.
In the meantime,  I think I'll use this little painting for this year's holiday cards.  It was painted last December over the space of three or four days betwixt the hours of 1000 and 1100 when the light was crisp and clear and even.
